Day 1:
Your
English speaking driver will meet you on the
dock and transfer you by air-conditioned vehicle
for about 1.5 hours to the rose red city of
Petra, a must-see in the Middle East.
With your English speaking guide walk through
the 1.2km-long Siq to reach the city of Petra ,
passing the remains of Nabataean shrines, water
channels, wall carvings and some of the original
paving stones. See the magnificent Treasury as
you exit the Siq, investigate the Street of
Facades, the Theatre, Royal Tombs, Colonnaded
Street, Byzantine Church, Winged Lion's Temple,
Qasr al Bint, and the Petra Museum. Climb to the
Monastery and/or High Place of Sacrifice on your
own. At a designated time (based on ship's
departure) meet your driver for the return
journey to Aqaba.
Note: The tour in Petra requires
considerable walking on uneven ground. A limited
number of carriages can be hired from the
entrance gates - prices to be negotiated direct
with owners
